Arrhythmias, on the other hand, are managed with daily medications or a day procedure known as a heart electrophysiology, which tests electrical-function, and ablation, which cauterizes or destroys the spot in the heart causing the abnormal heart beats. Whether your child has an arrhythmia or stress-related palipitations, consulting your primary care physician right away and relying on the partnership between him/her and the heart specialist is the right way to go.

Panicking after you realize that a racing heart has awakened you from sleep may speed up your pulse and/or prolong the racing. Rather than fret over this the following day, make an appointment with a cardiologist. Do not be scared of test results. Often, the patient is told he’s just fine.

Racing heart was one of the most prominent symptoms. I had a resting rate of 130 and of course it went up with any activity. Doctors would say "that's a little fast" and it ended there. Finally I saw a cardiologist. I wore a halter for several days. A beta blocker was added and after some adjustment that took care of it.
